doodles & inspirations

hello. im tina and i love to draw letters. this is my little place to showcase my inspiration and my own drawings. enjoy.

another odd interest i have is in the art/concept of “retro futurism”, which is basically art from the past that has a futuristic theme.

i love the mixture of old & new. there are 50’s style pin-ups combined with robots, ray guns & flying saucers..what could be better?

i especially enjoy the “space race” time period of the late 50’s/early to mid 60’s when america was obsessed with the idea of space exploration and the “world of the future”.

one of my favorite products of that time period is googie architecture, i love the futuristic & fun look of that movemet (i havent included any examples in this post, but im sure i will in the future!).

i also love the pop culture that reflected the movement like tv shows featuring space themes: I Dream of Jeannie (major nelson was an astronaut for NASA), Lost in Space, The Jetsons (who didnt want a car that folds up into a briefcase after seeing that show?!), etc.

retro futurism is what i wish the real future looked like! goofy silver outfits, flying saucer cars, ray guns that shoot circular rays of light, robots who are big, awkward hunks of metal with flashing lights and utopian-esque communities where we would all live like it was 1960 (only in a floating bubble in space)!!
